Alpay Nazikioğlu was born on July 18, 1935, in Ankara. Alongside being a successful student from elementary to high school, he also played football due to his passion for the sport, joining teams like Gençlerbirliği and Ankara Demirspor. Although he studied law, he found his true calling in music. Starting his music career in the 1960s, he created numerous unforgettable songs.

Alpay completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara. During high school, his interest in sports led him first to Ankara Demirspor and then to a professional football career. His biggest regret from this period was giving up football.

In 1964, Alpay released his first single, Norma Mia, making his debut by adapting French Chanson and Italian Neapolitan styles to Turkish music. He gained prominence with hit songs like Fabrika Kızı (Factory Girl) and Eylül’de Gel (Come in September). He stood out with his experimental work in romantic folk and rock genres. Beyond music, he also brought Attilâ İlhan’s poems to life by performing them.
