Andık Stream Bezirgan Waterfall

Andık Deresi Bezirgan Şelalesi is a recreational area located in the province of Isparta, evaluated for its natural resources and environmental characteristics. The region fulfills the function of a green space within the urban environment, thanks to its geographical structure and landscape elements. The area, which had been neglected for a long time, has been redesigned through restoration efforts implemented by the local administration.

Location and Physical Characteristics

Andık Deresi Bezirgan Şelalesi is situated near the city center of Isparta, within the natural course of a stream. The topography of the region features varying slopes along the stream bed, enabling the formation of waterfalls at multiple points. The area covers approximately 40,000 square meters and is surrounded by dense forested zones.

Historical Development

In the past, the region was one of the areas used by the people of Isparta for recreation and relaxation. However, over time, lack of maintenance led to degradation of its natural structure. In recent years, restoration activities have been initiated, resulting in the reconfiguration of the site and its reopening for public use.

Restoration Works and Structural Elements

During the restoration process, pedestrian walkways and cycling paths were constructed to facilitate visitor access. Kiosks and resting areas have been placed across different sections of the site, offering visitors a variety of relaxation options. Artificial waterfalls and reservoirs were built to control water flow. Additionally, decorative stone walls and structures designed in the form of historic water mills were incorporated into the landscape design.

Cultural Elements

As part of the restoration efforts, the Köşe Göbek motif—a traditional carpet design unique to the Isparta region—has been applied as a ground paving pattern throughout the area. Approximately 49,599 begonite stones were used to create a motif measuring about 10 meters in width and 50 meters in length. This design serves as a visual element reflecting the cultural identity of the region.

Social Usage Areas

The Andık Deresi Bezirgan Şelalesi recreational area includes children’s play zones, a mini amusement park, and tea gardens for adults. These social amenities have been planned to cater to visitors of different age groups. The Bezirgan Sufrası restaurant located within the site offers regional culinary products and operates using solar energy.
