Antalya Toy Museum

Antalya Toy Museum was opened on 23 April 2011 by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. The poet and toy collector Sunay Akın served as an advisor in the establishment of the museum. Located within the historic Kaleiçi Yacht Harbour, the museum is a nostalgic destination open to both local residents and domestic and international tourists.

Location and Architecture

The museum is situated in a prime location overlooking the sea within the historic Kaleiçi Yacht Harbour. It was converted from a restored former warehouse building. The architectural design harmonizes with the harbour’s character and features colorful, playful elements intended to appeal to children. The museum is surrounded by Antalya’s historical, cultural and tourist sites.

Collection and Thematic Structure

The Antalya Toy Museum’s collection comprises approximately 3,000 toys, including rare pieces dating from the 1800s to the present day. A significant portion of the collection consists of antique toys from countries such as Turkey, Germany, the United States and Japan.

• Historical Toys Section: Tin trains, wind-up figures and porcelain dolls from the 19th century

• Wooden Toys Area: Traditional Anatolian handmade doll carriages and horse toys

The museum organizes storytelling sessions, creative drama workshops, drawing classes and toy-making activities for children. It also hosts nostalgia-themed exhibitions, collector talks and weekly thematic events aimed at adults.

The museum is a regular destination for cultural excursions organized for schools in Antalya. Visitors can purchase thematic souvenirs from the museum’s gift shop after their tour.
