Atilla Uras Anatolian High School

Atilla Uras Anadolu Lisesi is a secondary education institution in the Maltepe district of Istanbul, constructed through philanthropic contributions.

The construction of the school began with a protocol signed in 2004 between the philanthropic businessman Atilla Uras and the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education. The building was completed on 10 August 2006 and transferred to the Ministry of National Education. The school commenced its educational activities in the 2006–2007 academic year under the name "Atilla Uras High School" with 386 students. In the 2013–2014 academic year it transitioned to the status of an Anatolian High School and has since been known as Atilla Uras Anatolian High School.^【1】

The institution is a public school under the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye.

Educational activities at the institution are conducted through single-shift instruction. The school offers instruction in two foreign languages: English and German. Technically, it utilizes fiber-optic internet connectivity provided under the Fatih Project.

School hours are conducted between 08:40 and 15:30.

As an Anatolian High School, the school admits students according to the centralized examination system and regulations established by the Ministry of National Education.

The campus of Atilla Uras Anatolian High School consists of a single building designed on a total area of 3000 square meters with a ground footprint of 1000 square meters. It includes a basement, ground floor, and three upper floors.

The educational environment is organized to meet academic and social needs and contains 30 classrooms. The school also provides practical learning facilities including one Information Technology classroom, one Physics Laboratory, one Chemistry Laboratory, one Art Workshop, and one Music Classroom. Additionally, to serve students’ social and administrative needs, the campus includes one indoor sports hall, a library with a capacity of 2660 books, one multipurpose hall, a cafeteria, a snack bar, a teachers’ lounge, guidance offices, and various administrative offices.^【2】

The high school is located at Girne Neighborhood, Eserli Street, No: 3, in the Maltepe district of Istanbul. It is situated approximately 1.5 kilometers from the district center.

Sixty-three teachers are employed at the school. The administrative staff consists of one principal and three vice principals, supported by clerical and service personnel to ensure institutional operations.

A total of 1096 students are currently enrolled. The school aims to develop students not only academically but also as self-reflective, original thinkers and tolerant individuals.^【3】

Atilla Uras Anatolian High School conducts various activities to support students’ social and physical development. Sports programs include football, futsal, basketball, badminton, volleyball, and cross-country running.

In the social sphere, educational seminars are organized through Parent Academies. Additionally, initiatives such as "The Richness of Our Language" and "I Read, Istanbul Reads" actively encourage student participation in cultural events.

Atilla Uras Anatolian High School aims to enhance students’ academic and environmental awareness through various local and national projects. Under the "Writers of the Future Project," students, guided by the Turkish Language and Literature department, have compiled their original writings into 50 published books and exhibited these works at various book fairs.^【4】

Additionally, in alignment with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education’s "Marine Debris Action Plan," the school implements the "Marine Debris Project," conducting fieldwork such as campus clean-ups to instill environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility in students.^【5】
