Azerin is an Azerbaijani singer and People’s Artist of Azerbaijan. She is known for her multilingual repertoire, international stage experience, and works centered on the Turkic world.

Early Life and Education

Azerin was born in Baku. At the age of five, she began performing children’s songs as a soloist on Azerbaijan State Television and Radio. At nine, she became a soloist with the internationally renowned Jiggle Dance and Music Ensemble, and at fifteen, she joined the Violet Choir of Azerbaijan State Television and Radio as a soloist. She graduated from the Vocal Department of the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire.

Musical Career

Azerin can sing in many languages, including Italian, Spanish, Russian, French, English, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, and several Balkan languages. Since 1990, she has performed in programs, festivals, and concerts in numerous countries and has reached wide audiences through television programs. Since 2009, she has produced and presented programs on TRT Avaz and TRT Müzik channels.

Her first album, released in Türkiye in 2015, is titled Yüreklerde Biriz. The album includes Mehmed Âkif Ersoy’s “Ordunun Duası” (Soldier’s Prayer), “Çırpınırdın Karadeniz” with lyrics by Ahmed Cavad and music by Üzeyir Hacıbeyli, “Çanakkale Geçilmez” which commemorates the Çanakkale Victory, Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu’s poem “Üşüyorum,” and Azerbaijani folk songs “Küçelere Su Serpmişem,” “Canım Menim,” “Bizim Dünya,” and “Payız Nefesi.” The piece “Çırpınırdın Karadeniz” has achieved high view and listen counts on YouTube and other digital platforms.

Azerin does not regard “Çırpınırdın Karadeniz” as an ordinary song but as a historical work. She emphasizes that the piece was inspired by the Caucasian Islamic Army and composed as an expression of gratitude to Türkiye. The artist states that she grew up with this piece and identifies deeply with it, highlighting that it has become a shared masterpiece uniting Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

With her composition “Onbeş Temmuz Gecesi,” she participated in various programs related to the events of July 15 and gained coverage in the national press. “Asker Duası” has been performed to provide moral support to Azerbaijani soldiers stationed along the border regions with Türkiye and in overseas operations.

In addition to music, Azerin has acting experience and appeared in an episode of the Turkish series Savaşçı.

Awards and Titles

In 2006, she was honored with the title “People’s Artist of Azerbaijan” by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

• 2006: Service to the Turkish Nation award from the New Generation Azerbaijan People’s Union in Baku; Artist of the Year award from the Ministry of Youth and Sports for best representing the Turkic world abroad; Best Vocal Artist award from the Benelux Countries Azerbaijani Turkish Society in the Netherlands
• 2008: Superior Service Medal from the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of National Defense; Honorary Medals from the 7th Corps Command of Diyarbakır, the 3rd Commando Brigade Command of Siirt, and the 2nd Commando Brigade Command of Şırnak
• 2009: Honorary award from the Türkiye-Kırım Development Foundation in Ankara; Service to the Turkic World award from the Turkish United States Foundation
• 2010: Artist who best expressed the Turkic World award at the II International Turkic World Congress of Ege University; Superior Service award from the Türkiye Embassy in Baku
• 2006, 2007 and 2010: Superior Service award from the Marmara Foundation at the Eurasian Economic Summit
• 2012: Artist of the Year award from the Türkiye Writers Union for contributions to the Turkic world
