Bakibey Mansion

Bakibey Konağı is located in the Pazar Mahallesi district of Burdur city center. The building is a historic mansion reflecting 17th-century Ottoman residential architectural features. Also known as “Koca Oda,” the two-story structure follows the traditional Turkish house floor plan.

Architectural Features

The ground floor of the mansion contains storage areas stables and auxiliary spaces while the upper floor houses the daily living quarters. The central room known as “Koca Oda,” which gives the building its name, is distinguished by its size and decorative elements. The structure was built using traditional techniques and materials including stone wood and sun-dried brick. Wooden ceiling decorations and local architectural elements reflect the construction philosophy of the period.

Restoration and Use

Bakibey Konağı has been restored with support from the Burdur Governorship and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. During restoration the building’s traditional fabric was preserved and interior arrangements were renewed in accordance with the original design. Today the mansion hosts cultural and artistic events and serves as a space for showcasing traditional lifestyle culture. The building is open to visitors and includes exhibition areas rest zones and thematic rooms.

Cultural Context

Its functional restoration has contributed to the preservation and promotion of civil architecture examples in Burdur. Bakibey Konağı is among the cultural destinations of the region alongside the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Culture House.
