Beşiktaş–Olympique Marseille Match (AA)
The UEFA Europa League match between Beşiktaş and Olympique Marseille was played at the Tüpraş Stadı in Istanbul. The match was officiated by Italian referee Andrea Colombo, representing the Italian Football Federation.
Home side Beşiktaş began the match strongly. In the 3rd minute, İlhan Fakılı received the ball on the left flank from a pass by Dusan Vlahovic, cut inside the penalty area and fired a powerful shot that struck the crossbar and went out for a corner. In the 10th minute, Beşiktaş defender Emmanuel Agbadou received a yellow card. In the 12th minute, after a poor pass by Outtara, Abdelli intercepted and played a pass to Keyliane Abdallah, who was positioned on the right diagonal outside the penalty area; his shot was saved by Beşiktaş goalkeeper Nübel, who pushed the ball out for a corner.
Beşiktaş took the lead in the 15th minute. İlhan Fakılı received the ball on the left flank, drove toward the edge of the penalty arc, executed a one-two with Junior Olaitan, slipped behind the defense and finished with a precise low shot into the bottom corner past the goalkeeper. Olympique Marseille equalized in the 30th minute. After Abdelli won the ball in midfield and delivered a long pass, Keyliane Abdallah moved into the penalty area from the right diagonal and struck a powerful shot from close range into the bottom corner, leveling the score at 1-1.

Beşiktaş-Olympique Marseille Match (AA)
In the 45+3rd minute, Beşiktaş failed to capitalize on a chance to regain the lead. Vlahovic received the ball on the edge of the penalty area from a pass by Amir Murillo and played it through to Orkun Kökçü, who had slipped behind the defense; Kökçü’s one-on-one shot was denied by goalkeeper De Lange. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw. Immediately after the final whistle of the first half, the entire Beşiktaş team turned toward the northern stand in response to the fans’ chants, and the black-and-white supporters applauded their players as they headed to the locker room.
Beşiktaş head coach Vincenzo Italiano replaced Emmanuel Agbadou, who had received a yellow card in the first half, with Tiago Djalo at the start of the second half to avoid the risk of a red card. Beşiktaş, energized by the support of their fans, regained the lead in the 56th minute. In a swift counterattack, Orkun Kökçü collected the ball in midfield, advanced toward the edge of the penalty area and delivered a pass to Vaclav Cerny, who had surged forward from the right. Cerny’s low shot from distance struck the post before bouncing into the net, giving Beşiktaş a 2-1 lead. Cerny celebrated the goal with the fans.

Three minutes after that goal, in the 59th minute, Beşiktaş extended their lead to 3-1. From a corner won on the right flank, Orkun Kökçü delivered the ball into the penalty area, where Amir Murillo rose strongly and headed it into the net. In the 68th minute, İlhan Fakılı received the ball on the left flank from a pass by Orkun Kökçü and attempted a curling shot from outside the penalty area on the left diagonal; the ball struck the crossbar and bounced back into play.
In the 71st minute, Beşiktaş’s new signing Ernest Poku entered the match. In the 81st minute, Beşiktaş scored their fourth goal. Junior Olaitan won a two-on-two duel in midfield, held onto the ball, combined with Vlahovic to approach the penalty area, and then played a pass to Poku, who had moved forward from the right wing. Poku finished from close range, sending the ball into the net and sealing the match at 4-1. Beşiktaş left the pitch with a convincing 4-1 victory.
With this victory over Olympique Marseille, Beşiktaş have won all seven of their official matches played at the Tüpraş Stadı during the 2026-27 season. The black-and-white side have defeated Midtjylland (1-0), Hradec Kralove (1-0), Kauno Zalgiris (3-0) and Olympique Marseille (4-1) in European competitions, and Eyüpspor (1-0), Çorum FK (6-2) and Erzurumspor FK (3-0) in the Süper Lig. In these seven matches, Beşiktaş have scored 19 goals and conceded only three. This result marks their fourth consecutive official victory, following wins against Çorum FK, Fenerbahçe and Erzurumspor FK in the league.
Among individual performances, İlhan Fakılı, who started in place of the injured Leandro Trossard, found the net against Marseille, marking his third goal of the season and his first in European competition, following his goals against Çorum FK and Erzurumspor FK in the league. Vaclav Cerny recorded his fourth official goal of the season, adding to his previous strikes against Eyüpspor and Çorum FK in the league and Hradec Kralove in Europe. Right-back Amir Murillo, who transferred to Beşiktaş midway through last season from Olympique Marseille, scored his third goal of the campaign with a header from a corner against his former club. Beşiktaş have now scored from set pieces in consecutive matches, following their goal from a corner against Erzurumspor FK in the league.
New signing Ernest Poku scored his first goal for Beşiktaş in his third official appearance, netting just ten minutes after coming on. The midfield trio of Salih Özcan, Orkun Kökçü and Junior Olaitan have played together in 12 official matches (seven in the league and five in Europe), with Beşiktaş recording ten wins and two defeats during that period.
On the Olympique Marseille side, the defeat extended their winless run to four matches. After losses to Monaco, Paris FC and Rennes in Ligue 1, the French side were defeated by Beşiktaş and have now gone four consecutive official matches without earning a point.

Beşiktaş Technical Director Vincenzo Italiano (AA)
Beşiktaş head coach Vincenzo Italiano praised the performance of Italian referee Andrea Colombo in the post-match press conference, noting that the new rule changes contributed to the fast pace of the game. Italiano expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, aside from a 10-minute spell in the first half marked by passing errors and counterattacking opportunities conceded to the opposition. He emphasized that the team earned a justified victory through their dominant second-half display. He also confirmed that Vaclav Cerny was not injured but was substituted due to fatigue and cramp.

Olympique Marseille Technical Director Bruno Genesio (AA)
Olympique Marseille head coach Bruno Genesio acknowledged that his team played evenly and effectively for the first 55 minutes but admitted that after conceding the corner goal, the team suffered a mental collapse and lost concentration. Genesio stated he was not surprised by Beşiktaş’s quality and believes the black-and-white side has the potential to progress further in the tournament.
Beşiktaş captain Orkun Kökçü highlighted the importance of starting the challenging group stage with a home victory, emphasizing that team unity and the synergy with the fans were decisive factors in the win. Kökçü also noted that his on-field dialogues with the referees to defend his team’s rights are an integral part of his character.

Throughout its history, Beşiktaş has been forced to play three European matches designated as home games outside Istanbul. In the 1986-1987 season, the quarter-final leg of the European Cup against Dynamo Kyiv was played in İzmir due to adverse weather conditions, and Beşiktaş lost 5-0. In the 2003-2004 UEFA Champions League, the match against Chelsea was held in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, due to bomb attacks in Istanbul, and Beşiktaş lost 2-0. In the 2024-2025 UEFA Europa League season, the match against Maccabi Tel Aviv was played behind closed doors at Nagyerdei Stadion in Hungary due to concerns over provocative actions, and Beşiktaş lost 3-1.

In the 2002-2003 UEFA Cup first round, they won 5-0 away against Bosnia-Herzegovina's Sarajevo. In the UEFA Europa League, they defeated Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv and Switzerland's Lugano 5-1. At the press conference, 48-year-old head coach Vincenzo Italiano highlighted the difficulty of assembling an ideal squad just 48 hours after the Trabzonspor match, stating that final decisions would depend on players' physical condition and energy levels. Italiano praised Hyeon-gyu Oh's professionalism after his two-goal performance against Hoffenheim and indicated he could feature. The Italian coach noted that Ernest Poku, who has not yet played much, has the potential to become a key player, and added that Ümit Akdağ, who missed training due to illness, could also be given a chance. Italiano acknowledged that the absence of captain Orkun Kökçü is felt in terms of quality and suggested that Fabio Miretti could take on a more central role in his absence. Italiano also emphasized that defeats are part of football and that the focus must now be solely on this match, putting the Trabzonspor and Amed Sportif Faaliyetler results behind them.
Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, speaking at the press conference, emphasized that Crystal Palace are the reigning Conference League champions and accustomed to the high physical tempo of the Premier League. Ndidi stated that his team is ready for the intense atmosphere at home and that their goal is to advance from the group stage.
