Beyazıt Öztürk, known by his stage name Beyaz, was born on March 12, 1969, in Göynük district of Bolu. His father served in the Security Organization as a civil servant, a circumstance that led the family to live in various cities across Türkiye due to frequent reassignments. During his childhood and early youth, Öztürk was exposed to different regional cultures, an experience that shaped his observational skills and familiarity with cultural diversity.
Beyazıt Öztürk’s professional media career began in the early 1990s at local radio stations in Eskişehir, where he designed programs. He was denied the opportunity to host shows due to his inability to pronounce the letter “R,” so he limited himself to program production. However, he circumvented these restrictions by finding ways to reach listeners with his voice and gained popularity through his unique, humorous style. Later, he continued hosting programs on “Genç Radyo,” a station founded by a roommate, and co-founded a politically themed humor magazine called “Gına” with his friends. It was in this magazine that he first used the pseudonym “Beyaz” on his caricatures.
The 1990s in Türkiye witnessed rapid growth in private radio broadcasting. During this period, Öztürk developed an interactive broadcasting approach, building a style centered on direct communication with listeners.
The improvisational storytelling style, live wit, and warm delivery he cultivated on radio programs laid the foundation for professional opportunities in Istanbul. There, he hosted shows on national radio stations such as Radyo Klas, gaining recognition among a broader audience.
While in Eskişehir, he opened two sculpture exhibitions, two ceramic exhibitions, and one caricature exhibition, and also participated in a mixed ceramic exhibition.
His greatest breakthrough came in 1996 with the launch of Beyaz Show on Kanal D. The program contributed significantly to the nationwide popularity of the talk show format in Türkiye. Its format featured celebrity guests, live musical performances, audience participation, and improvised humor elements.
Öztürk’s interactive narration, direct dialogue with viewers, and relaxed approach to guests played a crucial role in the program’s success. Beyaz Show continued for over two decades, becoming a phenomenon in Türkiye’s television history.
