Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu is a Turkish female wrestler and national athlete. Selected by United World Wrestling (UWW) in 2024 as “Woman Wrestler of the Year,” she won a bronze medal in the women’s 68 kg category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Throughout her career, Tosun Çavuşoğlu has achieved European and world championship titles and has become one of the leading figures in Turkish women’s wrestling.

Beginning and Development of Her Sports Career

Born and raised in Yalova, Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu began wrestling under the guidance of physical education teacher Selahattin Karaman. She demonstrated her talent in wrestling by winning a gold medal at her first Turkish Championship. She gained recognition by winning medals at national and international levels in junior categories. After securing European and world titles in the under-23 category, she moved to the senior category, where she also won European and world championships.

In 2023 she became world champion and in 2024 European champion. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, competing in the women’s 68 kg category, the national wrestler won a bronze medal, securing Turkey’s second Olympic medal in women’s wrestling. This achievement marked a significant milestone in Turkish women’s wrestling. In 2024, Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu was named by United World Wrestling as “The Best Woman Wrestler in the World.”
