Plot

The film examines Türkiye’s entry into World War I in 1914, following the immense challenges and losses the Ottoman Empire faced at the beginning of the 20th century. The Ottoman Empire joined the Central Powers and mounted a fierce resistance against British and French forces at the Dardanelles Strait in 1915.

One of the film’s central narratives follows two young men, Veli and Mehmet Ali, who volunteer for the Ottoman army and display extraordinary courage in battle at Conk Bayırı against British troops. The role of the newly formed 19th Division, commanded by Mustafa Kemal Paşa, in directing the course of the battle is also a key element of the film. Additionally, the defensive strategies of Cevat Paşa, responsible for the Dardanelles’ defense—including minefields and tactical calculations—are central to the story. Naval and land assaults on the strait are repelled by the exceptional bravery of Turkish soldiers.
