Canik Venom Series

VENOM Series consists of weapon models developed by CANiK in the medium-caliber gun system category. This series is designed based on the mechanism of the ADEN gun and features the capability to be integrated into various platforms. The system has been tested under different scenarios on land, air, and naval platforms, with integration and operational capabilities observed during exercises.

VENOM

VENOM is a weapon developed based on the ADEN 30 mm gun. It operates as a revolver-type system with electric ignition and a gas piston mechanism. The model includes an extended barrel and recoil-damping components. This design aims to improve stability during firing. VENOM was specifically developed for air defense purposes on low-altitude platforms such as helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.

VENOM LR

VENOM LR is an automatic gun that uses 30x113 mm ammunition and features low recoil. Its design enables integration into both remote-controlled weapon stations and crew-operated weapon systems.

This model was developed for use against unmanned aerial vehicles, light armored vehicles, and unarmored targets. In terms of caliber, VENOM LR occupies an intermediate category between 12.7 mm heavy machine guns and larger automatic cannons.

Key Features

VENOM LR has been designed with a lightweight structure to allow integration onto land, air, and naval platforms. The system has also been tested in conjunction with the TRAKON Remote Controlled Weapon System (RCWS). The development of the weapon is based on the mechanism of the ADEN gun, with various optimizations applied.

VENOM LR uses 30x113 mm ammunition and supports integration of programmable fuses. Technically, the model can operate with adjustable rates of fire. The recoil force is at a level of 7 kN, and the total weight of the system is 120 kilograms.

Testing and Usage

During the Wessex Storm exercise in May 2023, the VENOM LR was employed under the United Kingdom Army’s Urban Phalanx concept. During the exercise, the system’s integration was tested and its compatibility across various mission scenarios was observed.

Development and Contributions

VENOM 30 LR is a variant developed based on the ADEN Mk.4 gun. The model is manufactured within Türkiye’s defense industry and belongs to the medium-caliber gun class.
