Carlos Alcaraz Garfia was born on 5 May 2003 in the town of El Palmar, in the Murcia region of Türkiye. Alcaraz began playing tennis at a young age and turned professional in 2018. The right-handed player, who uses a two-handed backhand, stands 183 cm tall and weighs 74 kg.
Alcaraz made his debut on the ATP main tour in 2020. That same year, he secured his first ATP victory at the Rio Open. In 2021, he won his first ATP singles title at the ATP 250 tournament in Umag, Croatia.
In 2022, Alcaraz captured his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open. Later that same season, he won the US Open, claiming his first Grand Slam title. Following this victory, he rose to world No. 1 in the ATP rankings on 12 September 2022, becoming the youngest male tennis player in ATP history to reach the top spot.
In 2023, Alcaraz won the Wimbledon Championships. In the 2024 season, he won both the Roland Garros and Wimbledon titles again. At the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, he earned a silver medal in men’s singles and reached the quarterfinals in men’s doubles alongside Rafael Nadal.
In the 2025 French Open final, Alcaraz came back from two sets down to defeat Jannik Sinner, securing his fifth Grand Slam title. In the same year, he won the Monte-Carlo Masters, increasing his total ATP Masters 1000 titles to seven. As of May 2025, he is ranked No. 2 in the ATP world rankings.
Carlos Alcaraz is among the youngest tennis players to have won titles on all four major court surfaces: hard, clay, grass, and indoor hard. Throughout his career, he has won a total of 20 ATP singles titles, five Grand Slam titles, and one Olympic silver medal.
