Çayeli is a district of Rize province in Türkiye's Black Sea Region. It is located 18 km east of Rize city center, on the Black Sea coast. Known for its nature and cultural richness, the district is an important center especially for tea farming and plateau tourism.

History
Çayeli's history dates back to the 700s BC. It is known that the Roman, Byzantine, and Trabzon Empires successively ruled the region. The district's old name was Mapavri, and it became a district in 1944 under the name “Çaybaşı”, later its name was changed to “Çayeli”.
Geography and Climate
Çayeli has a narrow coastline and mountain ranges rising directly behind it, parallel to the sea. The district's area is 473 km². The region has a typical Black Sea climate; it receives abundant rainfall throughout the year and has high humidity. This climate offers favorable conditions for tea farming and forest products.
