Center for Combating Disinformation

Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) is a unit established under the Presidency of Communication of the Republic of Türkiye. Launched in May 2022, it operates to identify center and disinformation content and to inform the public with accurate information.

Establishment and Purpose

The DMM was created to prevent the spread of incomplete misleading or fabricated information particularly on social media platforms. In this context the center’s primary responsibilities include:

• Detection of false and misleading information
• Execution of information verification processes
• Public awareness and education activities regarding the impacts of disinformation

Working Methods

The DMM regularly monitors and analyzes information disseminated on social media and other digital platforms. During this process it employs artificial intelligence technologies and information verification methods. The center prepares regular reports on identified disinformation content and issues public announcements.

The DMM provides various publications and educational materials to support its verification and awareness efforts. These include:

• Disinformation Bulletin: Regular reports on detected false information and verified facts
• Educational Guides: Publications defining disinformation and informing individuals how to protect themselves against such content

Structure and Access

The DMM has a 24/7 operational news scanning and analysis team. Citizens can access the center’s activities and publications via the dmm.gov.tr website and submit reports regarding wrong information.
