Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School

Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, located in the Etimesgut district of Ankara, began its educational activities in September 2017 as Türkiye's first and only renewable energy high school.

The institution derives its name from Al-Jazari, a 12th-century scientist from Cizre who designed systems that operated using water and mechanical components without electricity and is regarded as a pioneer of renewable and green energy use.^【1】

The school’s building project was developed within the framework of the "Energy Efficiency in Buildings Project," implemented by the General Directorate of Renewable Energy under Türkiye’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources with financial support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Constructed at a cost of 23.6 million Turkish Liras under the State Investment Project, the institution began operations in the 2017–2018 academic year by enrolling its first students.^【2】

The institution operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye, providing vocational and technical education. Its technological infrastructure and laboratory equipment were installed under the "Renewable Energy Resources and Technology Education in Vocational and Technical Education Project," supported by the Ministry of Development.

Its institutional vision is defined as producing energy independently and training skilled personnel in renewable technologies.^【3】

The duration of education is five years, including one year of preparatory English instruction. Within the "Renewable Energy Technologies" field, the school offers programs in "Solar Energy Systems" and "Wind Energy Systems"; within the "Electrical and Electronic Technologies" field, it provides instruction in "Industrial Maintenance and Repair."

The academic program includes both fundamental sciences and vocational specialization courses.^【4】

The institution admits students based on the centralized examination score (LGS), with an annual quota of 90 students. Since 2017, minimum admission scores have steadily increased, reaching 384.6231 in the 2021–2022 academic year and 415.03 in the 2022–2023 academic year.

The percentile ranks of admitted students generally range between 3% and 15%.^【5】

The campus, covering approximately 22,000 square meters of enclosed space, consists of three independent buildings: the main school building, a dormitory, and a sports hall. The campus includes 18 classrooms, 10 workshops, and 6 laboratories.

The building meets 80% of its energy needs through its integrated solar power system and wind turbines; heating requirements are supplied by a combination of a radiator system, ground-source heat pumps, and solar wall technology.^【6】

The school’s administrative and operational staff consists of 53 personnel, including one principal, one deputy principal, three assistant principals, 36 teachers, and technical and administrative personnel assigned to various units. Support units include a nurse, technicians, clerks, and security personnel.^【7】

According to 2017–2018 data, the school has a total of 343 students, comprising 266 male and 77 female students. Graduates commonly pursue higher education in medicine, architecture, and engineering faculties, gaining admission to institutions such as Istanbul Technical University, Gazi University, Marmara University, Ege University, and Ankara University.

The on-campus dormitory has a capacity of 148 beds and provides accommodation for male students.^【8】

Sports activities include active participation in volleyball, basketball, and futsal competitions. In the scientific domain, the school organizes the TÜBİTAK 4006 Science Fair and TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festival and represents the institution in the Ministry of National Education Robotics Competitions and TEKNOFEST events.^【9】

The institution has been awarded the "Performance Turkey Championship" and "Visual Design" prizes within the electric vehicles category of TEKNOFEST. Under the Erasmus+ program, internship activities on wind turbines have been conducted in Denmark and Italy. Additionally, vocational training projects on solar energy systems are planned in collaboration with the Ankara Chamber of Industry in Spain and Germany.^【10】
