CV (Curriculum Vitae), a term of Latin origin, means "path of life" or "life trajectory". In contemporary usage, a CV is a resume document that includes an individual’s educational background, work experience, skills, and personal information. It functions as a professional document summarizing the applicant’s qualifications and experiences relevant to the position applied for.

A CV typically consists of the following sections:

Personal Information: The applicant’s name, surname, contact details (telephone number, email address) and optionally date of birth or address information place are included.

Profile or Objective: It contains a brief statement outlining the applicant’s career goals and suitability for the applied position short.

Educational Background: The applicant’s educational qualifications, institutions attended, departments and graduation dates are specified.

Work Experience: Previous employment, organizations worked for, job responsibilities and achieved accomplishments are presented in chronological order.

Skills and Competencies: Technical skills, foreign language proficiency, knowledge of computer software and other professional competencies are listed in this section.

References: References provided by employers or academic advisors may be added.

Additional Information: Volunteer publications, certifications, awards and other experiences that enhance the applicant’s CV are listed value.

Types of CVs

CVs are generally categorized into three main types:

Chronological CV: The applicant’s work and educational history is arranged in reverse chronological order. It is suitable for individuals with a consistent career history.

Functional (Skills-Based) CV: The applicant’s competencies and skills are emphasized rather than work experience. It is recommended for applicants with limited or inconsistent work experience.

Hybrid CV: A combination of chronological and functional CVs. Both work experience and skills are presented in balanced manner.
