

Dan Brown was born on June 22, 1964, in the town of Exeter, New Hampshire, United States. His father was a mathematics teacher and his mother a music instructor. He completed his high school education at Phillips Exeter Academy and later studied English literature at Amherst College. During the 1983–1984 academic year, he took courses in art history at the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain. After graduation, he briefly pursued music before working as an English teacher at Beverly Hills Preparatory School.
Dan Brown began his writing career in 1998 with the publication of his novel Digital Fortress, which explores themes of cryptography and national security. In works such as Angels & Demons (2000) and Deception Point (2001), he blended historical events and scientific developments with fictional narratives. His 2003 novel The Da Vinci Code achieved international success. The character Robert Langdon, introduced in this novel, became the protagonist in subsequent books: The Lost Symbol (2009), Inferno (2013), and Origin (2017).
Novels from Brown’s Robert Langdon series have been adapted into films and television productions. Ron Howard directed the films The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels & Demons (2009), and Inferno (2016), with Tom Hanks in the lead role. The television series The Lost Symbol, released on the Peacock platform in 2021, is among the television adaptations of his work.
