Egocentric

The term entered Turkish from the French égocentrique (self-centered). Structurally, it is formed by the combination of the French word ego, meaning "self," and centre, meaning "center," with the suffix +ic. It was first used as a technical term in child psychology in France around 1880; the earliest written records in Turkish appear in the 1939 edition of the Cumhuriyet newspaper.

• Zoology: Used in scientific and technical texts to describe bird species belonging to the family Accipitridae within the order Falconiformes, which feed on mice and small birds.
• Everyday language: In rural areas, it appears in colloquial usage with regional names such as "yelhover" or "rüzgar kakan," referring to the bird's hunting behavior of hovering in the air.
