Eğriçimen Plateau

Eğriçimen Yaylası is located within the boundaries of the Koyulhisar district of Sivas Province. Access to the plateau is provided via a stabilized pasture road approximately 17–20 kilometers from the district center. The plateau is situated within a natural area covered by pine trees and features a dominant topography.

The plateau is rich in vegetation, particularly surrounded by pine forests. Known for its natural spring waters and cool climate, Eğriçimen Yaylası stands out for its clean oxygen-rich environment and abundant greenery. Around the plateau, natural flower species such as yellow and white daisies can also be found.

Eğriçimen Yaylası has been used as a summer pasture by the local population for approximately 500 years and is an integral part of the region’s nomadic pastoral culture. Families migrate from the district center to the plateau during spring and summer months, maintaining traditional ways of life. In this regard, the plateau holds both historical and cultural significance.

Over time, increasing construction on Eğriçimen Yaylası has led to modern reinforced concrete buildings replacing traditional wooden houses. This development has caused significant changes to the natural character of the plateau. The settlement area also includes hotels, restaurants, tea houses, and similar social structures.

The plateau offers distinct natural scenery in each of the four seasons. In spring, the vegetation comes to life; in summer, the cool climate prevails; in autumn, the forests turn colorful; and in winter, the landscape is covered in snow. Heavy snowfall occurs during winter months, with snow depth reaching up to 1.5 meters in places. During this season, lakes freeze and the region falls into silence, giving the plateau a different visual aesthetic.

Eğriçimen Yaylası is a preferred destination for recreational activities such as picnicking, nature walking, relaxation, and photography. The plateau has become a popular destination for domestic tourists during spring, summer, and winter, offering ideal conditions for those seeking to spend time immersed in nature. Particularly in summer, its clean air has earned it the designation of a “natural climate.”
