Ekol TV

Ekol TV is a national news channel established in 2024, broadcasting via satellite and digital platforms in Türkiye. The channel has adopted a news and discussion format primarily focused on current politics, economics, world affairs, sports, entertainment, and lifestyle. After approximately two years of broadcasting, it announced on 22 December 2025, through an official statement, that it had ceased operations.

Establishment Process and Ownership Structure

The establishment of the channel began with the initiative of television commentator and lawyer Professor Dr. Ersan Şen. Before going on air, Şen left the management, leading to a change in the channel’s ownership structure. Subsequently, the channel was acquired by Azerbaijani businessman Mübariz Mansimov, who completed the preparatory phase for broadcasting under this new capital structure.

Ekol TV’s commercial name as the broadcasting license holder is Ekol Medya A.Ş. Within the corporate structure, Okşan Tanrıkulu serves as the responsible manager, and Attorney Gökçe Emre is responsible for legal matters. Designed from its inception as an Istanbul-based news channel, Ekol TV consolidated its technical and administrative units under this corporate framework and established its news center and studio facilities within the same organizational structure.^【1】

The channel’s management and broadcasting activities were conducted through its headquarters in Istanbul.

Course of Broadcasting

Ekol TV officially launched its broadcasting in 2024 and continued operations for approximately two years. During this period, the channel positioned itself as a competitive new news outlet in a crowded media landscape, maintaining presence on both television and digital platforms.

In addition to the main channel, a separate channel dedicated exclusively to sports broadcasting, Ekol Sports, was launched. This channel also ceased operations shortly thereafter due to financial reasons.^【2】

At the same time, reports emerged in the public sphere indicating that the channel had undertaken measures to reduce scale and cut costs during later stages of its broadcasting. Assessments that the on-air team had been reduced and operational scope scaled down were cited as indicators of financial difficulties faced by Ekol TV.

Financial Difficulties and Closure Process

The closure of Ekol TV was officially announced to the public on 22 December 2025 through a statement titled “Announcement to the Public and Valued Colleagues.” The announcement stated that Ekol TV News Channel had maintained its broadcasting for nearly two years with the interest of its viewers and that this success had been accelerated by the dedicated efforts of its staff. The same statement noted that recent developments and changes in the capital structure had negatively impacted the channel’s economic sustainability, and that, following evaluations by the board of directors, a decision had been made to terminate its operations.^【3】
