Erzurum City Hospital

Erzurum City Hospital is one of the healthcare complexes located in Türkiye’s Eastern Anatolia Region. It began operations in 2008 under the name “Erzurum Regional Training and Research Hospital” with a capacity of 1,090 beds, becoming a central hub for healthcare services in the region.

The new City Hospital building, construction of which began in 2014, was completed in July 2020 and opened for service as an extension of the existing Regional Training and Research Hospital. This new building, with a capacity of 1,072 beds, also served as a “Pandemic Hospital” during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing critical healthcare services to the region.

Physical Features and Infrastructure

Erzurum City Hospital covers approximately 270,000 square meters of enclosed space and was constructed as a modern, environmentally friendly facility. Designed to withstand natural disasters, the hospital has the capacity to generate a portion of its own energy needs. The total enclosed area reaches 384,500 square meters.

The hospital has a total bed capacity of 1,670 beds, including the Regional Block and the Sample Extension Building. There are 256 intensive care unit beds. Additionally, the hospital features a 27-bed “Mother Hotel” offering luxury comfort.

Patient Comfort and Support Services

The hospital has been designed to ensure a high level of comfort for patients and their families. Rooms are typically single or double occupancy and include bathrooms, toilets, televisions, refrigerators and seating areas. Central air conditioning is controlled individually in each room.

The hospital complex includes cafeterias, restaurants, a bank branch and ATMs as social services. Additionally, under the “Hospital School Project,” face-to-face education is provided for pediatric inpatients.

The parking capacity is extensive, with a 3,500-vehicle covered parking area and additional open parking lots. Electric ring vehicles are available within the hospital for patients with mobility difficulties.

Capacity and Performance

The hospital provides outpatient services to approximately 9,000 patients daily and has 353 outpatient clinic rooms. Around five million patient consultations have been conducted and approximately 100,000 surgical procedures performed. One quarter of all surgical interventions are carried out using advanced techniques including robotic surgery and specialized methods.

The number of intensive care beds is approximately 264. Dialysis services can be provided simultaneously to 45 patients.

Regional and International Significance

Erzurum City Hospital serves as a healthcare center not only for the Eastern Anatolia Region but also for neighboring provinces and countries including Russia, Georgia, Iran, Iraq and certain Turkic states. It is particularly recognized internationally for health tourism in the fields of cardiovascular surgery, physical therapy, robotic surgery and oncology.
