Eskişehir Technical University (ESTÜ)

Eskişehir Technical University (ESTÜ) is a public university conducting higher education activities in Türkiye. The university is located in the city of Eskişehir. The academic origins of Eskişehir Technical University trace back to the HASTAŞ Private Higher School of Eskişehir Chemical Engineering, established in 1968. The institution was restructured in 1970 as the Eskişehir State Academy of Engineering and Architecture.

Eskişehir Technical University was established by Law No. 7141, published in the Official Gazette No. 30425 on 18 May 2018, thereby securing its place within Türkiye's higher education system. Located in the city of Eskişehir, which is recognized as a center for science, culture and youth, the university operates across three distinct campuses.

The academic and administrative structure of the institution comprises six faculties, three institutes, one college, three vocational colleges and eight research and application centers. With a strong physical infrastructure and a competent academic staff, the institution aims to produce graduates capable of competing at an international level through dynamic and creative learning environments.

One of the university’s most distinctive features is the international Hasan Polatkan Airport, located within the boundaries of the 2 Eylül Campus. Operated directly by the Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences, this airport serves not only educational activities but also civil aviation, with periodic international flights operated by various airlines from the facility.

Eskişehir Technical University conducts its educational and research activities across three main campuses. The primary campus, which houses the central administration units, the majority of faculties and research centers, is the 2 Eylül Campus. This campus is located in the Gazipaşa Neighborhood of the Tepebaşı District. The second campus, Borabey Campus, is situated in the Kavacık-Patlaklı area of the Tepebaşı District. The third campus, Porsuk Campus, is located in the Osmangazi Neighborhood of the Odunpazarı District. The Porsuk Campus hosts the Institute of Transportation Sciences along with the Vocational College of Information Technologies, Porsuk Vocational College and Vocational College of Transportation.^【1】

A total of 15,946 students are currently enrolled at Eskişehir Technical University.^【2】 Student admissions are conducted based on the results of Türkiye’s centralized university entrance examination system (Higher Education Institutions Examination – YKS).

The university offers students opportunities to participate in social, cultural and sporting activities through various student clubs and communities. Facilities supporting these activities are available on the 2 Eylül Campus.

Eskişehir Technical University offers undergraduate and associate degree programs through its faculties and vocational colleges.

Undergraduate programs are conducted across the university’s six faculties. The Faculty of Engineering includes departments in Computer, Environmental, Industrial, Civil, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, as well as Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Aeronautical Engineering, all taught in English. The Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences offers programs in Aviation Electronics and Electronics, Aviation Management, Piloting, Aircraft Airframe and Engine Maintenance, and Aviation and Space Engineering, the latter taught in English.

Programs offered by the Faculty of Architecture and Design include Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, and Textile and Fashion Design. The Faculty of Science comprises departments in Biology, Physics, Statistics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences offers programs in Information Security Technology, Information Systems and Technologies, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, all taught in English. The Faculty of Sports Sciences provides undergraduate education in Sports Management.

Associate degree programs are structured according to technical specialization areas within the vocational colleges. The Vocational College of Information Technologies offers programs in Computer Programming at the Porsuk Campus under the Department of Computer Technologies, and at the 2 Eylül Campus, Cloud Computing Operations and Cybersecurity Analysis and Operations. Within the Department of Electronics and Automation at the same college, programs in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technology and Operations and Mechatronics are offered at the Porsuk Campus, while Robotics and Artificial Intelligence programs are available at the 2 Eylül Campus. Additionally, at the 2 Eylül Campus, programs in Game Development and Programming under the Department of Audio-Visual Techniques and Media Production, and Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems under the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning are delivered.

The Porsuk Vocational College offers programs across various technical disciplines at the Porsuk Campus. The Department of Audio-Visual Techniques and Media Production includes the program in Printing and Publishing Technologies. The Department of Design offers Graphic Design. The Department of Construction offers Building Inspection. The Department of Electricity and Energy includes the program in Electricity Generation, Transmission and Distribution, as well as Hydrogen and Energy Storage Technology. The Department of Machinery and Metal Technologies offers Machine Drawing and Construction, while the Department of Electronics and Automation offers Radio and Television Technology.

The programs of the Vocational College of Transportation are grouped under three main departments. Under the Department of Management and Organization, the Logistics program is offered. Under the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies, programs include Rail Systems Electrical and Electronics, Rail Systems Mechanical Technology, Rail Systems Track Technology, and Rail Systems Locomotive Operation. The Department of Transportation Services offers programs in Civil Aviation Cabin Services, Rail Systems Operation, and Transportation and Traffic Services.

Exchange programs such as Erasmus+ are actively implemented within faculty departments to support international academic collaboration and student mobility. Additionally, scientific research and development activities are carried out through projects supported by the European Commission.

The university has received awards in the fields of scientific research, technological development and physical accessibility:

• TÜBİTAK Project Support (2024/1 Period): The university has been supported with a total of 171 projects under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A and 2209-B programs. In particular, under the 2209-B program, which emphasizes industry collaboration, the ratio of supported projects to total student population ranks first among all universities in Türkiye.^【3】

• TÜBİTAK 2242 Project Competitions (TEKNOFEST 2025): Students from the Department of Industrial Engineering ranked third in Türkiye in the Food and Agriculture category with their project titled “A Stochastic Programming Model for Design and Planning Decisions under Uncertainty in Agricultural Supply Chains.”^【4】

• TÜBİTAK 2242 Project Competitions (TEKNOFEST 2024): A project developed by students from the Department of Industrial Engineering, titled “Application of Machine Learning-Based Recommendation Systems in a Campaign,” achieved second place in Türkiye in the Information and Communication Technologies category.^【5】

• YÖK Accessible University Awards (2024): Under awards granted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), three different units received recognition in the Physical Accessibility (Orange Flag) category: the Faculty of Architecture and Design-LEE-College of Foreign Languages Building, the Faculty of Engineering Buildings, and the Rectorate Building.^【6】
