eTwinning

eTwinning is an online educational community that fosters collaboration among teachers and students across Europe, based on the exchange of knowledge and experience. This initiative, implemented under the European Commission’s Erasmus+ program, supports the development of innovative teaching methods through digital school-to-school projects. eTwinning enables participants to collaborate on joint projects via online platforms, attend professional development activities, and adopt quality standards in education across Europe.

Aim and Scope

The primary aim of eTwinning is to strengthen innovative approaches in education and intercultural understanding by establishing digital collaboration networks among schools in Europe. The program enables teachers to implement project-based learning methods through online tools, with the goal of helping students develop critical thinking, communication, and digital literacy skills. Türkiye has participated in the program since 2009 through the National Support Service coordinated by the General Directorate of Innovation and Educational Technologies (YEĞİTEK) of the Ministry of National Education.

Participation and Registration Process

Participation in the eTwinning platform is achieved when teachers and school administrators register online and provide personal and institutional information. Applications are approved after a verification process, granting participants access to project communities on the platform. Participants can search for partners, share project ideas, and join international initiatives through the eTwinning Live portal.

Areas of Activity

Project Development and Collaboration

eTwinning enables teachers to collaborate with colleagues from different countries in Europe on joint educational projects. Projects are developed around diverse themes such as environmental awareness, digital safety, cultural heritage, artistic production, and language learning. Project activities are designed to encourage active student participation.

Digital Safety and Awareness

Safe internet use is a key focus area within the program. Students are made aware of online safety and digital citizenship. Some eTwinning projects implemented in Türkiye have enabled students to learn about safe internet usage in an engaging way through智力 games and activities.

Award Programs

Projects carried out under eTwinning are evaluated based on adherence to quality standards. Successful projects are awarded the “Quality Label” at both national and European levels. Evaluation criteria include pedagogical innovation, level of collaboration, use of digital tools, sustainability, and student participation. The Quality Label is a significant recognition that enhances teachers’ professional visibility.

Türkiye eTwinning Awards

Türkiye National Support Service organizes the eTwinning Türkiye Awards annually to encourage innovative and high-quality projects. These awards contribute to sustaining project quality by increasing teacher motivation.

European eTwinning Awards

The European eTwinning Awards are presented to recognize the most successful international collaboration projects. Awards are categorized by age group and theme and are assessed based on criteria such as pedagogical innovation, student participation, and digital creativity.
