Evren is a district located in the Central Anatolia Region of Türkiye, affiliated with the province of Ankara. Situated approximately 178 kilometers from Ankara city center, Evren is located in the southeastern part of the province, on the banks of the Kızılırmak River. To the east and north of the district lies the Kızılırmak River, to its west is Şereflikoçhisar, and to its south is the Sarıyahşi district of the Aksaray province. With an area of approximately 218 km², the district is one of Ankara's smallest in terms of land area.

History
The history of Evren district dates back to ancient times. Research conducted in the region indicates that settlement dates back to the Hittite period. The known old name of the district was Çıkınağıl, which in Old Turkish means "scattered settlement" or "community of dispersed houses." Çıkınağıl, which had the status of a village during the Ottoman period, was settled by Muslim Turkish population starting from the 16th century. In 1983, Çıkınağıl was renamed Evren in reference to the President of that period, Kenan Evren. With the name Evren, it gained district status affiliated with Ankara in 1990, and the first district governor was appointed on August 2, 1991.
Geography and Climate
The altitude of Evren district is approximately 900 meters. The geography of the district is surrounded by flat and undulating terrains characteristic of Central Anatolia. Due to the influence of Hirfanlı Dam Lake, humidity levels increase in some parts of the region, and microclimatic differences are observed. The Kızılırmak River holds an important place both in agricultural irrigation and natural life.
The climate exhibits typical continental climate features of the Central Anatolia Region: summers are hot and dry, while winters are cold and snowy.
Population and Demographics
The total population of Evren district, according to the current data from Evren District Governorship, is 3,045 people. With this number, Evren is Ankara's smallest district in terms of population. While a significant portion of the population lives in the district center, low-density settlement is observed in the surrounding villages and neighborhoods. There are 13 neighborhoods affiliated with the district. Due to migration, the youth population has decreased, and the average age has increased in rural areas.

Economy
Evren's economy largely relies on agriculture and livestock farming. Principal agricultural products include wheat, barley, chickpeas, and lentils. The Kızılırmak River and Hirfanlı Dam Lake provide advantages for irrigation, contributing to the development of agricultural activities. Small ruminant farming and poultry farming are also common in the district. Furthermore, limited-scale fishing is carried out around Hirfanlı Dam Lake. In recent years, with increasing demand for natural and homemade products, the production of local goods such as molasses, tomato paste, and homemade pasta (erişte) is also gaining economic value.

Evren has potential for nature tourism with its natural beauties and calm atmosphere. The surroundings of Hirfanlı Dam Lake are suitable for bird watching and nature walks. Traditional Central Anatolian culture is kept alive in the district. Wedding traditions, folk dances, and handicrafts are important elements of social life.
