Fatih Altaylı is a media professional who has worked as a columnist, commentator, program host, and manager across media platforms in Türkiye including radio, newspapers and television. He began his journalism career in the 1980s and has held positions at numerous national newspapers and television channels, becoming widely known to the public for his debate program “Teke Tek”. After leaving his most recent position at Ciner Yayın Holding, he began sharing programs and videos on social media on various topics and continues his journalistic activities through accounts he opened under his own name.
Fatih Altaylı was born on 20 September 1962 in Van. He completed his primary and secondary education at Çavuşoğlu Koleji and graduated from Galatasaray High School. He briefly studied at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at Boğaziçi University before transferring to the Istanbul University School of Journalism. However, he left this institution without graduating. He began his journalism career in 1982 as a sports reporter at Cumhuriyet newspaper.
In 1986 Altaylı moved to Güneş newspaper where he served as head of editorial affairs. After Güneş newspaper ceased publication in 1992, he became one of the founders of the private radio station Best FM. In 1995 he entered television journalism with the launch of the program “Teke Tek” on Kanal D. During the same period he wrote a column for Hürriyet newspaper and served as general coordinator of Radyo D.
In 2002 he was appointed General Director of News at Kanal D. In 2005 he joined Sabah newspaper as General Director of Publications. He resigned from this position in 2007 following the takeover of Sabah and ATV by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). After a period working independently, Altaylı became General Director of Publications at Habertürk newspaper in 2009, established by Turgay Ciner. He held this position until 2023, during which time he also hosted the programs “Teke Tek” and “Teke Tek Özel” on Habertürk TV.
In addition to journalism, Altaylı has participated in various social campaigns. He supported initiatives such as “Come On Girls, Go to School”, “One Minute of Darkness for Continuous Light” and “Clean Internet”. He has received awards from several institutions in recognition of his contributions to education.
Fatih Altaylı is married to writer Hande Altaylı. They have one daughter named Zeynep. It is known that in his personal life he has an interest in automobile collecting and model car building. He has stated that he avoids forming close personal relationships with politicians or businesspeople.
Fatih Altaylı was arrested in June 2025 following an investigation initiated over statements he made during a YouTube broadcast. In the broadcast he commented on public opinion polls regarding the presidential system in Türkiye, and he claimed his remarks had been distorted and were not intended as threats. Altaylı stated that he would share details of the case with the public through letters sent from Silivri Prison.
Previously, investigations had also been conducted against Altaylı on charges of insulting a public official and making threats. In October 16, following a dispute during a traffic enforcement operation in the Harbiye district of Istanbul, an indictment was prepared against him due to statements he directed at a police officer. Based on the officer’s complaint, prosecutors sought a prison sentence of between one year and eight months to four years and four months.
