Love-ı Memnu is a television series adapted from Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil’s novel of the same name and aired on Canal D between 2008 and 2010. Although Halit Ziya’s 1899 work had previously been adapted in different forms, this production succeeded in reaching a broad audience through its interpretation. The series revolves around the life of Adnan Lord and his family living in a seaside mansion on the Bosphorus in Istanbul. Adnan Bey, who lost his wife many years earlier, marries Bihter, who is significantly younger than him. Over time, Bihter grows close to Adnan Bey’s nephew Behlül, and a forbidden relationship develops between them. This relationship deeply disrupts not only their personal lives but also the entire structure of the family.
