When courts seek opinions on forensic psychiatric matters, institutions such as the Forensic Medicine Council’s specialized committees, psychiatric and neurological hospitals, university psychiatry departments, and state hospital psychiatry clinics assume key essential roles in this process. These institutions conduct evaluations on issues such as criminal competency, legal capacity, juvenile criminal responsibility, and substance dependence, and submit scientific reports to courts.

Legal Regulations and Standards

In forensic psychiatry practices, mental health assessments must be interpreted in relation to fundamental legal concepts and statutes. However, for sustained and structured development, systematic educational programs must be widely implemented and the legal infrastructure further strengthened. Additionally, increasing scientific research and academic publications can support the institutionalization of forensic psychiatry at both national and international levels.
