Gaziantep Turkish Bath Museum is a thematic museum located in the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep, Türkiye. It is dedicated to the history and cultural practices of traditional Turkish baths (hamams). The museum opened to visitors in 2015 and is housed in the historical Naip Hamamı, an original Ottoman bath structure dating back to the 17th century. It aims to document and present the architectural, social, and hygienic dimensions of the Turkish bath tradition.
History and Architecture
The museum is located within Naip Hamamı, a bathhouse built in 1640 during the Ottoman period. The structure retains all the fundamental architectural elements of a classical Turkish bath, including the dressing area (soyunmalık), warm room (ılıklık), and hot room (sıcaklık). It was restored by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and converted into a museum in 2015.

Educational and Cultural Contribution
The museum serves both as a cultural archive and as an educational environment. Visitors learn about historical practices of cleanliness, social interaction, and body care that were central to communal bath culture in Ottoman and Republican eras. It also plays a role in preserving Gaziantep’s intangible cultural heritage and is a notable attraction for both domestic and international tourists.
