Gaziantep University of Islamic Science and Technology (GİBTÜ)

Gaziantep Islamic Science and Technology University (GİBTÜ) is a public university located in the city of Gaziantep, Türkiye. The institution aims to cultivate individuals in the fields of Islamic sciences and positive sciences and technology through an integrated approach that unifies these disciplines.

Gaziantep Islamic Science and Technology University was established by Law No. 7141, published in the Official Gazette No. 30425 dated 18 May 2018, which added a provision to Law No. 2809. The official acceptance date was 09/05/2018. At the time of its establishment, the university was named "Gaziantep Science and Technology University." Its name was changed to "Gaziantep Islamic Science and Technology University" by Article 14 of Law No. 7161, published in the Official Gazette No. 30659 dated 18 January 2019, with an acceptance date of 17/01/2019. The university began its educational activities in 2019.

The university’s main activities are carried out at its central campus located along the Gaziantep-Kilis road. All academic and administrative units are situated within a single area.

The university has a total of 6002 students.^【1】 Admissions are conducted through the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS). International student admissions are carried out based on the university’s own application criteria, typically using results from the Turkey International Student Examination (TR-YÖS) or equivalent international exams.

The university offers undergraduate and associate degree programs.

The Faculty of Economic, Administrative and Social Sciences offers programs in Arabic Translation and Interpretation and English Translation and Interpretation.

The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences offers programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, and Industrial Engineering (in English).

The Faculty of Health Sciences offers programs in Midwifery, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, and Nursing.

The Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture offers a program in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts.

The Faculty of Theology offers programs in Theology, Theology (Arabic), Theology (Arabic) (M.T.O.K.), and Theology (M.T.O.K.).

The Faculty of Islamic Sciences offers programs in Islamic Sciences, Islamic Sciences (Arabic), Islamic Sciences (Arabic) (M.T.O.K.), and Islamic Sciences (M.T.O.K.).

The Faculty of Medicine offers a program in Medicine.

The Vocational College of Health Services offers programs in Operating Room Services, Physiotherapy, First Aid and Emergency Care, Medical Laboratory Techniques, and Elderly Care.

The Vocational College of Technical Sciences offers programs in Computer Programming and Machine and Radio and Television Technology.

As part of its internationalization strategy, the university provides education to international students from various countries and develops cooperation agreements with international universities. Student and staff mobility is supported through exchange programs such as Erasmus+ and Mevlana. Some programs are offered in English and Arabic.

Disability-Free Universities Awards: In the 2024 Disability-Free Universities Awards organized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the university won seven flags and ranked among the top 10 universities with the most flags. The awarded buildings include: the Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Services Vocational College Building; the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Institute of Graduate Education and College of Foreign Languages Building; the Student Cafeteria; the Technical Services Department Building; the Indoor Sports Hall; the Student Center; and the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Vocational College of Technical Sciences Building.^【2】

ÜNİDES Support: In the results of the 5th cycle of the University Student Research Projects Support Program (ÜNİDES), conducted by the Council of Higher Education, three student projects were granted support.^【3】

Academic Publication Performance: Prof. Dr. Zeynep Güngörmüş and Assoc. Prof. Şirin Çelikkanat from the Nursing Department were awarded certificates of achievement for their high number of academic publications.^【4】

The campus provides physical facilities including classrooms, laboratories, a library, a congress and culture center, sports facilities, a student life center, and a place of worship. The library holds collections of both printed and electronic resources.
