Gökçe (Gudum Kit)

GÖKÇE is a guidance kit developed by TÜBİTAK Defense Industries Research and Development Institute (SAGE) that converts 1,000 lb class general-purpose bombs into smart munitions. GÖKÇE has been designed to be compatible with both F-16 fighter jets and high-capacity unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), particularly the AKINCI platform.

The GÖKÇE Project was initiated by TÜBİTAK SAGE in the first quarter of 2021. The project was executed using the institute’s own resources, with the conceptual design phase completed followed by preliminary design studies. The project’s objective is to develop a guidance kit with high precision, long range and low cost.

GÖKÇE is compatible with the 1,000 lb Mk-83 general-purpose bomb and the SARB-83 sequential penetrator bomb. It has also been optimized for use with the BRU-57 multiple munition carriage adapter, enabling the carriage of multiple munitions in a single sortie. GÖKÇE’s airframe surfaces and tail cone have been designed with consideration for the physical constraints of the BRU-57.

GÖKÇE’s guidance system consists of the following modules:

• Inertial Navigation System (INS)
• Global Positioning System (GPS)
• Laser Guidance System

These systems are configured to be used individually or in combination. Guidance modes include INS/GPS, INS/Laser, INS only, or Laser/INS/GPS combinations depending on mission requirements. Circular error probable (CEP) is less than 3 meters with laser guidance, less than 10 meters with INS/GPS, and less than 25 meters when using INS only.

When launched from high altitude, GÖKÇE achieves a range of over 20 nautical miles (approximately 37 km) when deployed from F-16s and over 10 nautical miles (approximately 18 km) when launched from UAVs. It can engage both fixed and moving targets. When used in conjunction with the SARB-83T penetrator warhead, it is particularly effective against reinforced concrete and armored targets.

GÖKÇE is designed to be fully equipped with indigenous subsystems. In this context:

• SAGE-EGI: A micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS)-based integrated INS/GPS navigation system.
• SAGE Konum-01: GPS antenna unit.
• CAMGÖZ: Laser seeker head developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE.

The system is compatible with CRPA-type anti-jamming GPS antennas. Additionally, all software infrastructure has been developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE, with encrypted INS/GPS integration achieved.

The GÖKÇE guidance kit possesses the following mission capabilities:
