Origin

The word şükran entered Turkish from the Arabic word şukrān (شُكْرَان), which carries the meanings of “gratitude” and “feeling indebted.” This term is derived from the Arabic verb şakara (شَكَرَ), meaning “to be grateful,” and functions as a masdar (verbal noun) in the fuˁlān pattern in Arabic.
