Mustafa Hakan Safi (born 28 April 1973, Istanbul / Kasımpaşa) is a Turkish businessman. He is the second-generation manager of Safi Holding, whose foundations were laid in 1965, and currently serves as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Safi Holding, which operates in logistics, port management, maritime, energy, food, and construction sectors, employs more than 12,000 people. According to Forbes Türkiye’s 2025 list of “The 100 Richest Turks,” he ranks 61st with an estimated personal wealth of $750 million. Safi has been a congress member of Fenerbahçe Sports Club since 1999 and announced his candidacy for the presidency of Fenerbahçe Club at its upcoming elected extraordinary general assembly in 2026.

Mustafa Hakan Safi was born on 28 April 1973 in the Kasımpaşa district of Istanbul. As of 2026, he is 53 years old. His family originates from Çamoluk district in Giresun and migrated to Istanbul’s Kasımpaşa district in 1960. Safi is married and a father of three children. He is a member of various associations and clubs with social and sporting objectives.

After completing primary and secondary education, Hakan Safi finished his high school studies at FMV Özel Işık Lisesi. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Economics at Marmara University and completed a master’s program in English Business Administration at the same university. In the final stage of his academic education, he traveled to the United States and graduated from the Executive MBA program at Boston University School of Management. Upon returning to Türkiye, he assumed an active role in the management of the family business.

Hakan Safi has held managerial positions within Safi Holding since 1996. As a second-generation manager, he has expanded the holding to include more than 20 companies, starting with Derince Port—one of Türkiye’s largest ports—and extending to Çorum Şeker, Bilecik Cement, armature, and foreign trade enterprises. He continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors, coordinating the group’s wide-ranging activities spanning logistics to energy and industry to real estate.

Safi Holding has consistently appeared on the Fortune 500 Türkiye list for many years. Safi Katı Yakıt A.Ş. first entered the list in 2011 at rank 361 and climbed steadily to rank 203 in 2021, 219 in 2022, 187 in 2023, and 198 in 2024.

The holding’s total annual turnover is known to have reached the one billion dollar mark.

Hakan Safi joined Fenerbahçe Sports Club as a congress member in 1998–1999. In subsequent years, he also served on the club’s High Council and Board of Directors. Safi has described his long-standing relationship with Fenerbahçe by referring to the club as a community he has loved since childhood.

On 5 May 2026, Hakan Safi publicly announced his candidacy for the presidency of Fenerbahçe Club through a written statement issued via the Anadolu Agency. In his statement, he affirmed that he has been a devoted supporter of the club since childhood and has taken great pride in being a member of its community as a congress member since 1999. Safi declared his candidacy “unconditionally and without reservations,” stating that he would approach the role with an inclusive mindset embracing every member of the Fenerbahçe family.

Safi included the following statement in his announcement: “Fenerbahçe is not merely a sports club; it is a great value, a sense of belonging, and a passion alive in the hearts of millions. My goal and first objective is to bring our beloved community the championships it always deserves in the very first season after I assume office.”^【1】

During his campaign, Safi also emphasized his determination by stating, “No matter who else runs, I will not withdraw.”
