Hekimoğlu (TV Series)

Hekimoğlu is the Turkish adaptation of the American medical drama series House M.D., which originally aired between 2004 and 2012. The medical drama premiered on 17 December 2019 and ran for two seasons. Produced by Ömer Özgüner and Ümmü Burhan, the series was adapted for Turkish audiences by screenwriter Banu Kiremitçi Bozkurt, with Hülya Gezer serving as director.

Plot

The series centers on Dr. Ateş Hekimoğlu, an unconventional physician specializing in infectious diseases and nephrology, who leads a team in solving complex and difficult-to-diagnose medical cases. Hekimoğlu is rule-defying, antisocial, intellectually brilliant, and resistant to traditional medical practices. With a team he personally assembled, he employs scientific methods to resolve cases deemed unsolvable within the hospital system. His conflicts with authority figures and his inner personal struggles form another central pillar of the series.

Adaptation Information

The series is a Turkish adaptation of the American show House M.D.. The original series, known for its protagonist Dr. Gregory House, was reimagined in Hekimoğlu through the character of Dr. Ateş Hekimoğlu. During the adaptation process, the cultural and social context was restructured to reflect Turkish society.
