İlyas Yalçıntaş is one of the artists who rose to prominence in Turkish pop music during the 2010s. He gained recognition with the song “İncir,” which he performed on a talent competition in 2014, and quickly launched a professional music career thereafter. He began his musical journey with the guitar and continued it through vocal performances and songwriting, giving concerts both in Türkiye and abroad. Through his released albums and singles, Yalçıntaş has established himself as a notable figure in Turkish pop music production.
İlyas Yalçıntaş was born on 7 March 1989 in Erzincan. His mother is from Adapazarı and his father is from Erzincan. He is the youngest of five siblings. After completing his primary education as a boarder in Erzincan, he moved to Istanbul with his family, grew up in Kadıköy, and finished his high school education at Küçükçekmece İMKB Anatolian High School. His interest in music developed at age 16 when he began playing the guitar, during which time he performed at various venues to gain experience and earn a living. Before beginning university studies, he completed his military service, where he joined the band ensemble and further developed his musical skills.
In 2014, Yalçıntaş participated in the Turkish version of X Factor and performed the song “İncir,” written and composed by his friends İskender Külekçi and Orçun Karamuk. His performance drew attention, and after the competition, the song was re-arranged by the Enbe Orchestra under the direction of Behzat Gerçeker. In 2015, “İncir” climbed to the top ranks of the Kral Pop and TTNet Müzik charts. That same year, he released his second single, “Olmazsa Olmazımsın,” featuring a duet with Büşra Periz. His debut album, “Aşk Adam Seçiyor,” was also released in 2015. In 2016, he released his second album, “İçimdeki Duman,” which included previously released tracks. Music videos were produced for the songs “İncir,” “Olmazsa Olmazımsın,” “Nefes,” “İçimdeki Duman,” and “Bu Nasıl Veda.”
In 2018, he released the song “Şehrin Yolu,” co-created with Feride Hilal Akın. The lyrics were written by him, and the composition was a collaboration with Emre Can Yıldız. In the following years, Yalçıntaş released numerous new singles and performed on stages both in Türkiye and internationally.
Yalçıntaş has also attracted international attention and became the first Turkish artist to receive official permission to hold a pop music concert in the Islamic Republic of Iran. He performed three concerts in Iran, which significantly increased his popularity in the region. These concerts, aimed at reaching Iranian youth audiences, enhanced his recognition beyond Türkiye.
The artist prioritizes sincerity in his approach to music and emphasizes personal growth over interpersonal competition in artistic creation.
During his military service, he served in the band ensemble, where he gained experience in Turkish vocal techniques, diaphragm usage, and stage discipline. Although he has an interest in acting, he approaches any potential work in this field as part of a future plan. In his critiques of music competitions, he argues that such events are structured more around performance elements than genuine talent. He also asserts that music serves as a supportive element for individual spiritual development and can play a transformative role in social relationships.
