Irfan Can Eğribayat is a Turkish goalkeeper. He began his football career in the youth academy of Adanaspor and has played for the clubs Göztepe and Fenerbahçe. He has represented various age-group national youth teams of Türkiye.

Early Life and Youth Career

Irfan Can Eğribayat was born on 30 June 1998 in Adana. He started playing football at the age of nine in the Adanaspor youth academy. The 1.93-meter-tall goalkeeper made his first official appearance for the Adanaspor senior team at the age of 16. In the 2015–2016 season, he helped Adanaspor achieve promotion to the Süper Lig.

Adanaspor Career

Eğribayat wore the Adanaspor jersey between 2014 and 2020, appearing in a total of 69 official matches and keeping 19 clean sheets. He also played for the Türkiye U21 national team and attracted attention with his performances at Adanaspor. During the 2018–2019 season, the goalkeeper played 16 matches over a 16-game span, conceding only one goal. Among his career goals were playing for the senior national team and joining European clubs.

Göztepe Period

In September 2020, Irfan Can Eğribayat transferred to Süper Lig side Göztepe. In his first season, he played 35 Süper Lig matches. He also appeared in 32 matches during the 2021–2022 season and quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. However, he was later dropped from the squad in the latter part of the season.

Fenerbahçe Career

On 3 August 2022, he was loaned to Fenerbahçe from Göztepe until the end of the season with an option to buy. After passing medical examinations, the goalkeeper joined Fenerbahçe at a signing ceremony held at Ülker Stadium. He made his first official league appearance for Fenerbahçe against MKE Ankaragücü, where his team won 2–1. In the second half of the 2022–2023 season, he played in the Galatasaray derby and conceded three goals. As of the 2024–2025 season, he has appeared in 11 official matches for Fenerbahçe, conceding 11 goals and keeping four clean sheets (in the UEFA Europa League against Anderlecht and Olympique Lyon, and in the Süper Lig against Adana Demirspor and Alanyaspor).

During his time at Fenerbahçe, he worked one-on-one with head coach Jorge Jesus and improved his performance by losing 11 kilograms in line with the coach’s recommendations. He expressed his desire to remain at Fenerbahçe long-term and stated he would be pleased if the clubs reached an agreement on a permanent transfer.

National Team Career

Irfan Can Eğribayat has made 19 appearances for Türkiye’s youth national teams, including the U21 side. Adanaspor’s head coach Coşkun Demirbakan stated that Eğribayat deserves consideration for the senior national team.

Playing Style and Development Process

His goalkeeping strengths include the ability to play with his feet. Eğribayat has cited Marc-André ter Stegen in Europe and Mert Günok in Türkiye as his role models. He has highlighted ter Stegen’s ability to initiate play from the back and Günok’s development under head coach Abdullah Avcı. Eğribayat places great importance on personal development, undertaking additional physical training and preparing mentally for matches by reading books. He approaches competition in the goalkeeper position positively and demonstrates a supportive attitude toward his teammates.
