Her mother is Nakiye Ali Molla and her father is Mümin Ali Molla, who earned his living as a stationery merchant. She continued her involvement in the party as Honorary President after stepping down from the chairmanship on 13 December 1998, when she handed over the position to Nazmi Arif.
