
Işık Müminoğlu (Işık Sadık Ahmet) was born on 25 August 1959 in the city of Xanthi, Greece. Her mother is Nakiye Ali Molla and her father is Mümin Ali Molla, who earned his living as a stationery merchant. It is known that he had an older brother named Ali, who worked as an engineer managing the Alsamar Marble Factory.
She completed her primary education at Xanthi Central Primary School and her secondary education at Muzaffer Salihoğlu Minority Middle School and High School in Xanthi.
On 7 October 1978, she married Dr. Sadık Ahmet. The couple had two children: their son Levent was born on 29 September 1979 and their daughter Funda on 24 April 1982.
Following the death of Dr. Sadık Ahmet, Işık Sadık Ahmet was elected chairperson of the Friendship, Equality and Peace (DEB) Party by the party’s Central Council on 7 October 1995. She continued her involvement in the party as Honorary President after stepping down from the chairmanship on 13 December 1998, when she handed over the position to Nazmi Arif.
Together with her husband, she participated in various events such as conferences, symposia and panels to raise awareness of the issues facing the Turks of Western Thrace on international platforms. After her husband’s death, she continued to take part in such activities.
Işık Sadık Ahmet serves as Deputy Chair of the Executive Board of the Balkan Turkish Women’s Council of the Association of Women of the Turkish World for Friendship and Solidarity and resides in Istanbul.
She speaks English and Greek.
In 2018, she was named "Woman of the Year" by the Bursa Branch of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association, in the context of International Women’s Day on 8 March.
