Kaan Urgancıoğlu, born on 8 May 1981 in Aydın, completed his high school education at İzmir American College. After graduating from Marmara University, he pursued acting training in New York. Following his return to Türkiye, he completed a master’s degree at Kadir Has University. His decision to pursue acting was significantly influenced by meeting Çetin Sarıkartal.
He was born on 8 May 1981 in Aydın. He comes from a family with roots in Tire district of İzmir on his father’s side and Arab and Albanian ancestry on his mother’s side. He completed his secondary education at İzmir Özel Türk Koleji and his high school education at Özel İzmir Amerikan Koleji. He graduated from the Capital Markets and Stock Exchange Department of Marmara University in 2007.
He then received acting training at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York. After returning to Türkiye, he completed a master’s degree in the Film and Drama Department at Kadir Has University. It is noted that his meeting with Çetin Sarıkartal played a decisive role in launching his acting career.
Urgancıoğlu began his acting career during his university years. In 2002, he played the lead role in the Kanal D series Karaoğlan. He was selected for this role after auditions facilitated by Demet Akbağ. In 2003, he appeared in the series Kampüsistan. In the following years, he took on various roles in series such as Avrupa Yakası (2004), Yeniden Çalıkuşu (2005), Sessiz Gece (2005), and Seni Çok Özledim (2005).
In 2006, he appeared alongside Kadir İnanır, Engin Şenkan, Melisa Sözen, and Ebru Akel in the series Azap Yolu, directed by Tunç Başaran, Temel Gürsu, and Orhan Oğuz. In 2007, he appeared in the series Tutsak and the film Son Ders: Aşk ve Üniversite. He acted in the 2009 film Büşra. In 2010, he appeared in the film Peşpeşe and the series Canım Ailem and Düriye’nin Güğümleri.
Between 2011 and 2014, he participated in series such as Bir Ömür Yetmez, Düşman Kardeşler, Son, Acayip Hikayeler, A.Ş.K., and Filinta. From 2015 to 2017, he portrayed the character “Emir Kozcuoğlu” in the Star TV series Kara Sevda. For this role, he won the “Best Supporting Male Actor” award at the 2015 Ayaklı Gazete TV Yıldızları Ödülleri. Between 2020 and 2021, he appeared as “Kemal” in the Netflix series Aşk 101. In 2021, he took on the role of “Ilgaz Kaya” in the Kanal D series Yargı, which began airing that year.
Urgancıoğlu has also performed on stage, appearing in the play Ara, directed by Çetin Sarıkartal.
