Karaahmetli Nature Park is located in the Central Anatolia Region, within the borders of Kırıkkale province. The park is situated on the western shore of Kapulukaya Dam Lake, which lies between the districts of Bahşili and Keskin, near Karaahmetli Village. The area of 107 hectares was granted "nature park" status by a decision of the Council of Ministers, published in the Official Gazette dated July 23, 2009, and numbered 27297, under the scope of the National Parks Law No. 2873.

Natural Features and Ecosystem

The nature park is located within the feeding area of Kapulukaya Dam Lake, situated on the Kızılırmak River. 95% of the area is steppe (grassland), 3% is agricultural land, and 2% is an afforestation area. The park, notable for its surface features, deep valleys, and the water scenery created by the dam lake, possesses favorable natural conditions for various recreational activities.

Flora (Plant Cover)

As a result of floristic studies conducted in Karaahmetli Nature Park, 201 genera, 235 species, 27 subspecies, and 6 varieties belonging to 51 families have been identified. There are 7 endemic plant species within the park boundaries. Among these species are Bear's Breech, Hare's Ear, Madwort, Kleome, Milk Vetch, and Ankara Crocus.

Fauna (Animal Presence)

In and around the park, 63 bird species, 12 reptile species, and 15 mammal species have been identified. In Kapulukaya Dam Lake, 13 different fish species live. Furthermore, the endangered Otter also finds a habitat in this region.

Tourism and Recreation Value

The nature park, with its natural landscape and ecosystem diversity, is used for daily recreation and nature sports activities. Activities such as picnicking, nature walks, angling, and birdwatching are carried out in the area. The topographical diversity of the area is also suitable for scientific research.

Infrastructure and Facilities

The park has 37 gazebos, 52 picnic tables, 1 toilet, 5 fountains, 4 children's playgrounds, 1 water tank, and 20 lighting fixtures. An entrance control unit, parking area, sports area, prayer room (masjid), water reservoir, scenic viewing terrace, rain shelters, social facilities, and a solar-powered lighting system are available. To facilitate transportation, a 1,200-meter interlocking paved road and a 2-kilometer natural stone road have been constructed. A floating pier has also been established to enhance activities such as water sports and angling.

Transportation

Karaahmetli Nature Park is located on the Ankara-Konya-Kulu highway route. Access is provided by an asphalt road from Kırıkkale city center to Karaahmetli Village, and by a stabilized road from the village to the nature park.

Planning and Conservation Status

Karaahmetli Nature Park was declared in 2009, and a long-term development plan for the area is available. A conservation-oriented zoning plan has been approved for an area of approximately 200 decares in the Çatal Tarla Sırtı locality.
