Karamağara Bay

Karamağara Koyu is located within the boundaries of Yayladağı district in Hatay province, in southern Türkiye. The bay is situated on the Mediterranean coast and falls under the administrative jurisdiction of Yayladağı district center.

Geographical Features

Karamağara Koyu is a coastal area with direct access to the sea, characterized by rocky terrain. The bay contains caves, from which it derives its name. The region lies at the point where mountains meet the sea and is noted for providing a cool environment during the summer months.

Access and Transportation

Karamağara Koyu is administratively part of Yayladağı district, and road construction projects have been completed to facilitate access to the area. The roads leading to the bay have been asphalted and the transportation infrastructure has been improved. Additionally, Hatay Metropolitan Municipality has carried out works to enhance access and improve the surrounding environment, ensuring the bay is suitable for visitors during the summer season.

Tourism and Usage

Karamağara Koyu is a preferred destination for domestic visitors during the summer season. The number of visitors increases as people come to swim and cool off in the sea. Due to its natural setting and location along the shoreline, the bay is used for relaxation and immersion in nature. Security personnel are occasionally present in the area to monitor recreational activities.

Infrastructure and Environmental Improvements

Hatay Metropolitan Municipality has carried out environmental cleaning, landscaping, and infrastructure development works in the Karamağara area. As part of preparations for the summer season, road construction was completed and environmental cleaning and landscaping works were implemented. These efforts have made the area more suitable for visitors.

Works Conducted After the Earthquakes

Following the earthquakes of 6 February 2023, Hatay Metropolitan Municipality undertook reconstruction and rehabilitation works in the Karamağara area. As part of these efforts, infrastructure and environmental improvement projects were carried out to prepare the bay for the summer season. Thanks to these works, the area has been opened to visitors.
