Leyla The Band (Music Group)

Leyla The Band is a musical group announced on March 2013 through the official social media accounts of the television series Leyla ile Mecnun. The band’s lineup consists of the main cast and creative team of the series. Lead actor Ali Atay serves as the group’s vocalist. The other members are Onur Ünlü on drums, Serkan Keskin on bass guitar, Osman Sonant on keyboards, Fırat İkisivri on guitar, Sarp Aydınoğlu on percussion, and Sarper Aksoy on clarinet, all of whom are associated with the series.

Musical Works and Achievements

The group released its first musical work, the song “Yokluğunda,” along with its accompanying music video, both as part of the Leyla ile Mecnun series and via YouTube. The song quickly gained success, accumulating over 100 million views on YouTube. It was among the most-watched music videos in Türkiye in 2013, helping the group reach a wide audience. Following “Yokluğunda,” the group continued its musical endeavors with its second song “Aşk Bitti” and third music video “Zaman.” The band’s known released singles and EPs include “Yokluğunda” from 2012 and “Aşk Bitti” from 2013.

Concerts and the Group’s End

Leyla The Band held its first concert on 21 May 2013 at Jolly Joker Istanbul. The group’s largest concert was the event titled “Farewell to Leyla ile Mecnun & Hello to Ben de Özledim,” held on 16 September 2013 at Küçükçiftlik Park, attended by approximately 7,000 people. In a statement, band member Serkan Keskin indicated that the reason for the group’s dissolution was their lack of intention to derive financial income from music and the different dynamics of the music industry.
