Naruto: Shippūden (Series)

Naruto: Shippūden is a Japanese animated television series adapted from Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto manga series, broadcast between 2007 and 2017. As a direct sequel to the original series, it follows the events beginning with Naruto Uzumaki’s completion of his training and return to his village.

The first series adapted from Masashi Kishimoto’s work, Naruto, aired from 2002 to 2007. Naruto: Shippūden, as its continuation, began in 2007 and concluded in 2017.

The power system in the universe is based on chakra energy. Characters perform techniques known as "jutsu" by manipulating natural elements such as fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning, using hand seal combinations. Events such as the activities of the "Akatsuki" organization and the "Fourth Great Ninja War" significantly influence the balance of power within the shinobi world.

The fictional universe is built around the system of "Hidden Villages". Leaders of villages such as Konohagakure, Sunagakure, Kirigakure, Iwagakure, and Kumogakure hold the title of "Kage". The military hierarchy is divided into Genin (novice), Chunin (intermediate), and Jonin (elite).

The story centers on a young ninja’s pursuit of his goal to become the leader of his village. The narrative goes beyond traditional heroism by exploring moral ambiguities tied to the characters’ past sins, traumas, and desires. Throughout the series, characters are frequently forced to make difficult ethical decisions between the desire for revenge and the search for moral redemption. Large-scale plot arcs such as the "Akatsuki Conflict" and the "Fourth Great Ninja War" revolve around these moral dilemmas. Overall, the series examines philosophical themes such as forgiveness, understanding, the pursuit of peace, and the perpetual struggle between good and evil.

Themes such as identity, friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice are explored. The story progresses through the characters’ pasts, traumas, and ethical choices. Conflicts between good and evil are examined through the characters’ internal processes.

The series’ music was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi, Yaiba, Musashi Project, and Toshiro Masuda. Opening and ending themes feature works by artists such as FLOW, Ikimonogakari, KANA-BOON, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Sukima Switch, NICO Touches the Walls, Home Made Kazoku, supercell, Aqua Timez, DISH//, and MUCC.

Naruto: Shippūden consists of a total of 500 episodes, with an average runtime of 23 minutes. Approximately 200 "filler" episodes are not part of the main storyline.

Throughout its broadcast run, Naruto: Shippūden received nominations and awards from the Behind the Voice Actors (BTVA) Anime Dub Awards and the Crunchyroll Anime Awards:
