National Technology Academy

The National Technology Academy is an education and development platform established in Türkiye to enhance technological competence in line with the National Technology Initiative. The Academy collaborates with public institutions, universities, and private sector stakeholders to implement technology-focused learning and development programs.

The Academy is primarily focused on developing qualified human resources needed by the country, offering knowledge-based, skill-oriented, and application-driven education models in advanced technology fields. Program content is regularly updated in accordance with technological advancements and industry demands.

Establishment, Purpose, and Scope

The National Technology Academy was implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye within the framework of the National Technology Initiative. It was established with the aim of cultivating qualified human resources in technology-focused areas.

Practical implementation of programs and activities under the Academy began in the 2023–2024 academic year. The Academy operates in collaboration with public institutions, universities, and private sector organizations in pursuit of its objectives.

Stakeholders

The activities of the National Technology Academy are carried out within a multi-stakeholder structure comprising public institutions, universities, and private sector organizations. The Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye serves as the lead and primary stakeholder among public institutions. The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is among the institutions collaborating with universities on program implementation. Academy programs are conducted with the participation of numerous universities across Türkiye, with universities playing a key role in delivering programs and enrolling students.

Private sector and industrial organizations contribute to Academy programs as defined in its official stakeholder structure. Various institutions from defense, automotive, electronics, and advanced technology sectors participate in specialized programs such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving technologies, and chip design. Experts and industry representatives from diverse sectors serve as instructors and mentors in Academy programs, supporting the practical dimension of these initiatives.

Objectives and Goals

The primary objective of the National Technology Academy is to contribute to the development of human resources that support Türkiye’s national and indigenous technology production capacity. The Academy adopts an educational approach that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience. In this context, its goals include strengthening human capacity in advanced technology fields, developing an interactive education model linked to industry, and creating a learning environment centered on sectoral expertise.

Educational and Program Structure

Programs implemented within the Academy are shaped through collaborations between universities, public institutions, and private sector representatives. These programs combine theoretical and applied content, enabling participants to engage directly with industry practices. Under these programs, university students receive specialized training in areas such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving technologies, and chip design, complemented by internships and mentoring components. These activities incorporate practical educational elements aimed at developing qualified human resources in technology fields. The Academy embraces a multi-stakeholder educational model that draws on expertise from diverse disciplines, thereby ensuring that programs remain aligned with current technological developments.

Application Criteria and Target Audience

Application criteria for National Technology Academy programs are determined according to the type of program being offered. The Academy targets participants at various educational levels to provide learning and development opportunities in technology-focused areas.

A significant portion of the specialized and educational programs offered by the Academy is directed toward undergraduate students, particularly those in their third and fourth years of study.^【1】  Undergraduate students studying in relevant disciplines may apply to programs in areas such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, chip design, and similar fields. Admission requirements for each Academy program are defined individually and announced through official notices. In addition to programs targeting students, the Academy also offers education and development programs for university graduates. Graduates can enhance their professional knowledge and skills through these programs. Practical programs and internship activities within the Academy are conducted in accordance with the conditions specified in the relevant program announcements.^【3】 

Quantitative Indicators

According to information available on the official website of the National Technology Academy, as of 2025, more than five programs have been implemented under the Academy, supported by over a hundred stakeholder institutions. More than two hundred industry professionals have served as instructors and mentors in the Academy’s education and development activities.

Through its programs, the Academy has reached over ten thousand students, with educational activities delivered through more than one hundred fifty course modules. These quantitative indicators provide a general overview of the Academy’s educational reach, stakeholder network, and scope of access.^【4】 

Institutional Position

The National Technology Academy operates in alignment with industrial and technological policies and collaborates with higher education institutions to develop elective courses, joint programs, and applied education models.
