Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan is a Turkish academician, psychiatrist, and author. Born in 1952 in the Merzifon district of Amasya, Tarhan graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and decided to specialize in psychiatry. He began his professional career in the late 1970s in Istanbul and became a well-known figure in psychiatric expertise and academic work. After serving as a psychiatrist at the Turkish Armed Forces Health Services (GATA), he continued to progress in the academic field, earning the title of professor in 1996.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan has contributed significantly not only to Turkey but also to global scientific research. He has published nearly 300 articles and more than 100 books on topics such as psychiatry, mental health, psychological trauma, depression, stress management, and family relations. In addition, 125 of his articles have been published in major academic journals like Web of Science and have had a significant impact on the scientific community.

Tarhan has made several contributions to the development of Turkish psychiatry. Since the 1990s, he founded Üsküdar University and began teaching there. In addition to the university, he established NPİSTANBUL Hospital, which serves in the fields of psychiatry and neurology.

Prof. Dr. Tarhan has also played a role in social responsibility projects, particularly focusing on areas like community psychology, family problems, and adolescent issues. His view on psychiatry extends beyond individual treatment to encompass social responsibility, leading him to work on topics like child abuse, domestic violence, and social trauma.

In addition to his scientific work, Tarhan has written numerous books aimed not only at academic audiences but also at the general public to share his thoughts and experiences.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan has won several awards for his scientific achievements and contributions to public health. He is a member of many international scientific organizations and contributes to various global projects. He is internationally recognized for his participation in psychiatric conferences and the presentations he delivers.

Social Impact (Tarhan-İDER Foundation)

The Tarhan-İDER Foundation, officially known as the Nevzat Nermin Tarhan Humanitarian Values and Mental Health Foundation, was established in 1997 in Ankara as the “IDE Foundation” (Humanitarian Values Protection, Assistance, and Solidarity Foundation) and later changed its name to "İDER" in 2002. In 2021, it was renamed Tarhan-İDER to include the founders’ names. The foundation continues its charitable and public services, with Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan donating the copyrights of all his books to the foundation.

1. Health Services: The NP Health Group began brain mapping and clinical testing in 1998 and opened NPİSTANBUL Neuropsychiatry Hospital in 2006.
2. Educational Services: Üsküdar University, founded in 2011, is Turkey's first thematic university, offering a wide range of programs.
