Nil Mısır, born in 1987 in Erzurum, has achieved various rankings in national and international competitions as Türkiye’s first female athlete in the W1 category of para archery.

Nil Mısır was born in 1987 in the province of Erzurum. She began her primary education at Gaziosmanpaşa Primary School in Yalova and completed her middle education at Edirnekapı Primary School in Istanbul. She received her high school education at Bayrampaşa Tuna High School in Istanbul.

The athlete’s higher education has spanned multiple disciplines. She graduated from Beykent University’s Computer Programming program and Marmara University’s International Trade program. She interrupted her studies at Istanbul University’s History department and is currently enrolled as a student in the Television Programming program at Anadolu University’s Faculty of Open Education.

In 2019, while undergoing hospital treatment under the supervision of Professor Dr. Belgin Erhan, Nil Mısır continued her active production and work activities, drawing public attention and becoming a front-page headline in Sabah Newspaper. Following this coverage, and under the guidance of national team coaches, she was invited first to the Archers Foundation Sports Club and subsequently to the national team training camp.

After a 23-day intensive preparation period, she participated in the Turkey Championship in Antalya and began her archery career as the first Turkish woman to compete in the W1 category.

Nil Mısır has won numerous first-place finishes and rankings in national competitions between 2021 and 2025. At the Turkey Championship organized by the Türkiye Physical Disabilities Sports Federation (TBESF) from 8 to 11 November 2021, she won a gold medal in the W1 Women’s Individual category. At the Turkey Cup from 25 to 28 April 2022, she won three separate gold medals in the W1 Women’s Individual, W1 Women’s Double Team, and W1 Mixed Team events.

At the Turkey Championship from 18 to 21 May 2022, she won gold medals in the Mixed Team and Women’s Double Team events and a silver medal in the Women’s Individual event. She won gold medals in the W1 Women’s Individual category at the Turkish Paralympic Sports Athlete Pool Selection Competition organized by the Türkiye Archery Federation in Samsun from 16 to 20 January 2023, the Antalya Para Archery Federation Cup from 13 to 14 March 2023, the Antalya Turkey Championship from 4 to 5 September 2023, the Antalya Para Archery Spring Cup from 24 to 25 April 2023, and the Antalya Para Archery National Sovereignty Cup from 15 to 16 April 2024. Additionally, she won a gold medal by securing first place at the first leg of the Antalya Turkey Cup on 17 to 18 March 2025.

Her first significant international achievements came at the World Championship held in Dubai from 19 to 27 February 2022, where she won silver medals in the W1 Women’s Individual and W1 Women’s Double Team categories. She won a gold medal in the W1 Women’s Individual category at the European Championship in Rome, Italy, from 1 to 7 August 2022, and at the Islamic Games in Konya from 9 to 18 August 2022.

At the first leg of the European Cup held in Nové Město, Czech Republic, from 14 to 20 May 2023, she won gold medals in both the individual and Mixed Team events alongside Bahattin Hekimoğlu. At the European Championship in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from 14 to 20 August 2023, she won silver medals in the individual and Mixed Team events. At the European Championship in Rome, Italy, from 18 to 24 May 2024, she won a silver medal in the Mixed Team event with Yiğit Caner Aydın.

Nil Mısır participated in the Paris Paralympic Games held from 24 July to 11 August 2024. At the event, she placed fifth in the world in the W1 Women’s Individual category and also finished fifth in the world in the W1 Mixed Team category alongside Bahattin Hekimoğlu.

The athlete continues her professional and sporting activities guided by the motto “Moving forward is a choice.” As Türkiye’s first female para archer in the W1 category, she maintains her place in national and international sports literature. In her technical development process, the principle of qualitative accuracy is prioritized over quantitative volume. Rather than simply increasing the number of repetitions, each shot is analyzed using analytical methods to achieve biomechanical optimization. In terms of mental development, her ability to maintain performance consistency during high-stress crisis periods stands out.

During her recovery phase, she developed a high level of psychological resilience to manage uncertainty, preserve intrinsic motivation, and return to elite competitive levels. The rehabilitation process was structured not as an isolated clinical recovery period but as an organic component of the overall training cycle. In line with this multidisciplinary approach, physiotherapy practices and sporting performance training were not conducted as separate activities but as an integrated, mutually supportive system.

Nil Mısır continues to represent Türkiye in international sporting events, combining her academic background with her pioneering status in sports history.
