Opel Astra

Opel Astra is a model family offered by German automobile manufacturer Opel in the compact class since 1991. Having evolved through six generations, the Astra is currently available in hatchback and station wagon body styles. The latest generation, introduced in 2021 (Astra L), was developed on Stellantis’ EMP2 platform and has established its position in the market with gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric variants.

The new Astra features sporty and minimalist lines reflecting Opel’s “Vizor” front design language. Updated LED headlights, distinctive shoulder lines, and compact proportions enhance the vehicle’s appearance. The interior has been simplified with a digital Pure Panel® cockpit design, a horizontally oriented console layout, and user-focused screen integration. Thanks to the EMP2 V3 platform, weight distribution has been optimized and torsional rigidity increased.

The new Opel Astra offers a range of engine options tailored to user preferences.

Main engine options:

• 1.2L turbo gasoline (110–130 hp)
• 1.5L BlueHDi diesel (130 hp)
• 1.6L turbo gasoline engine combined with electric motor for plug-in hybrid (180–225 hp)

Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, an 8-speed automatic (EAT8), and a single-speed transmission for electric models. Front-wheel drive is standard across all variants. Plug-in hybrid versions deliver 360 Nm of torque and achieve 0–100 km/h acceleration in approximately 7.5 seconds.

The Opel Astra is offered both as a hybrid and a fully electric model as part of its sustainable mobility strategy.

Plug-in hybrid variants:

• 1.6L turbo gasoline engine paired with an electric motor
• Power options of 180 hp or 225 hp
• 12.4 kWh battery providing an electric range of approximately 60–70 km (WLTP)

Full electric Astra Electric:

• 115 kW (156 hp) power output, 270 Nm torque
• 54 kWh battery capacity
• 418 km WLTP range
• 100 kW DC fast charging (80% capacity in approximately 30 minutes)
• 11 kW AC charging support

These systems provide strong alternatives for urban mobility with low emissions and quiet operation.

In the Astra L cabin, digitalization and user ergonomics are prioritized.

The new generation Astra is produced at Opel’s facility in Rüsselsheim, Germany. Its compatibility with the EMP2 platform enables integrated production alongside several other models under the Stellantis umbrella. The Astra competes in the European market against models such as the Volkswagen Golf and Peugeot 308.
