PK (Peekay) (Film)

PK (Peekay) is a 2014 Indian science fiction comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani and written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi. It stars Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Saurabh Shukla, Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film was made in collaboration between Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films. It was released in India on 19 December 2014.

Plot

The film centers on an alien named PK who arrives on Earth to conduct research. After landing in Rajasthan, PK loses his communication device while attempting to understand human behavior. Realizing he cannot return to his planet without it, PK embarks on a quest to recover the device, during which he observes religious beliefs, rituals and methods through which humans seek to connect with God. The story unfolds as PK meets Jagat Janani, a journalist, and together they search for the lost device.

Production Details

Filming took place in various regions of India. Locations included Delhi, Rajasthan (Mandawa and Jaipur), Belgium (Bruges), Mumbai and Agra. Aamir Khan underwent special dialect training and worked extensively on the physical expression of his character, including facial expressions and mannerisms.

The film was released in India and in numerous countries worldwide. It was also shown in cinemas in the United States, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Türkiye. In India, it premiered on 19 December 2014 according to Indian Standard Time (IST).
