The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is an all-electric city car developed by the French automobile manufacturer Renault. As a modern interpretation of the iconic Renault 5 model, which was first produced in 1972 with an internal combustion engine, this new generation vehicle was introduced in 2024 and launched in the European market as of 2025. Playing a significant role in the transition to electric mobility, the Renault 5 E-Tech stands out with both its nostalgic design and contemporary technological features.

DESIGN AND STRUCTURAL FEATURES

The new Renault 5's exterior design combines the aesthetic elements of the past with contemporary lines. LED headlights, a modern taillight cluster, and a compact body structure give the vehicle a dynamic profile suitable for urban use. Built on the CMF-B EV platform, the model offers a lower center of gravity and optimized interior space thanks to its floor-integrated battery pack. The vehicle's length is approximately 3.92 meters, and its width is around 1.77 meters.

MOTOR OPTIONS AND PERFORMANCE

The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is offered with three different motor options. These motors produce 70 kW (95 hp), 90 kW (120 hp), and 110 kW (150 hp) of power, respectively. Equipped with 40 kWh and 52 kWh capacity batteries, the vehicle can offer a range of 300 to 400 kilometers depending on the battery size. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time for the most powerful version has been measured at approximately 7.8 seconds. The maximum speed is approximately 150 km/h.

INTERIOR AND TECHNOLOGICAL EQUIPMENT

In-car comfort and digital equipment are prioritized. The model features a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system screen ranging from 7 to 10 inches. Renault's system, called OpenR Link, offers Google-supported services and also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Features such as a wireless charging pad, dual-zone climate control, and multiple USB-C ports enhance the interior ergonomics.

DRIVER-ASSIST SYSTEMS AND SAFETY

The Renault 5 E-Tech is equipped with modern safety and driver-assist systems. Technologies such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, a traffic sign recognition system, and a 360-degree camera are included in the driver-assist package.

PRODUCTION AND MARKET POSITION

The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is produced at the ElectriCity facilities in Douai, France. The model is positioned in the B-segment and competes with models like the Fiat 600e, Mini Cooper Electric, and Peugeot e-208. With this model, Renault aims to target young users and urban-focused drivers during the transition to electric mobility.
