Rick and Morty (TV Series)

Rick and Morty is an American adult animated science fiction comedy series created in 2013 by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. Airing on Adult Swim, the series follows the absurd and dangerous interdimensional adventures of eccentric scientist Rick Sanchez and his anxious grandson Morty Smith. Known for its surreal humor, science fiction elements and social commentary, the show quickly gained a cult following.

The series first aired on Adult Swim on December 2, 2013, and belongs to the genres of animation, science fiction and comedy. With an average episode length of 22 minutes, the series has completed eight seasons so far (season 8 is ongoing), with a total of over 70 episodes.

Box Office Performance and Current Status

The series has also achieved success outside of television broadcasts in the home video market, generating approximately $35 million in combined DVD and Blu-ray sales.

In 2018, the series received a new order of 70 episodes through an agreement with Adult Swim. Under this deal, season 9 is scheduled to premiere in 2025. The creators continue to develop future seasons.
