Sabancı Central Mosque

Sabancı Center Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Türkiye and is located on the banks of the Seyhan River in Adana. The mosque, which bears traces of Ottoman architecture, was constructed using traditional and modern techniques and materials. It derives its name from the Sabancı family, which financed its construction.

Construction of the Sabancı Central Mosque began in 1988 and was completed in 1998. The mosque was built through the collaboration of the Türkiye Foundation and the Sabancı Foundation. During its construction, both traditional and modern techniques were employed, and only the highest quality materials were used.

Architectural Features

The Sabancı Central Mosque was designed inspired by classical Ottoman architecture and features numerous important architectural details:

Dimensions: The mosque is built on an area of 28,500 square metres and has a capacity for 20,000 worshippers.

Dome and Minarets: The mosque has a total of six minarets, each 99 metres high. The main dome is 54 metres high and 32 metres in diameter.

Interior: The interior decoration of the mosque is adorned with Ottoman and Seljuk motifs, featuring intricate marble calligraphy and examples of hat art.

Garden and Landscape Design: The mosque has a spacious courtyard and a landscaped garden. Its panoramic view of the Seyhan River enhances its visual impact.
