Şebinkarahisar Independence Fountain is a monumental fountain located in the city center of the Şebinkarahisar district in Giresun, Türkiye. It was built in memory of the Turkish War of Independence.

According to written sources, the fountain was constructed in 1927 by the then-Mayor Hüsnü Bey to commemorate the War of Independence and to symbolize the founding of the Republic. The craftsman responsible for its construction was Sarı Mustafa, who came from Torul. Initially, the fountain was placed in front of the old municipal building, but in 1985, it was relocated to the town square, where it still stands today.

Architectural Features

The fountain was built in the Baldachin architectural style. It is covered by an octagonal roof made of zinc, supported by four columns. At the center of the roof is a skylight. Each side of the roof is finished with triangular pediments.

On the inner surface of the roof, there are ornamental kalem işi (hand-painted) decorations featuring botanical motifs applied over white plaster. The main body of the fountain, made of stone, tapers as it rises from bottom to top. The body is adorned with stone carvings of botanical motifs, laurel wreaths, stars, and crescent-star reliefs. At the very top, there is a finial featuring a crescent and star.

At the base of the fountain lies a cylindrical water reservoir, which is supplied by water flowing from spouts placed in four directions. The surrounding basin is circular in design. Additionally, the water reservoir is decorated with carvings of cannonballs and shells.
